About me

My name is Sascha Böttcher, and my heart beats for photography! Born in Heidelberg, I naturally developed a passion for this hobby. At first, it was just capturing shots here and there, as many do. But when I held my first digital camera in my hands, new possibilities opened up, and I delved deeper into it. The casual snapshots transformed into a captivating passion.

Photography allows me to communicate without words and capture emotions. There is so much I can express through my pictures, and I do it with passionate ease. Each photo I take is like a personal masterpiece, representing me and unleashing my creativity. The ability to illuminate subjects and capture the perfect moment is a constant challenge I gladly embrace in this hobby.

I love spending time in nature and exploring my surroundings, always searching for the perfect subject. With the right perspective and a touch of inspiration, small masterpieces are born, which I proudly share with others. But I also don't shy away from capturing lively moments, as they present me with new challenges and exciting ideas.

I warmly invite you to explore my photos and decide for yourself if I successfully capture my visions and emotions in images. Photography is not just a hobby for me; it is a passion that empowers me to see and share my world in my unique way.

What else photograpy means to me...

Since I can remember, I have been living with a severe avoidant personality (AVPD) accompanied by a strong social phobia. Dealing with public places, transportation, and making phone calls poses immense challenges for me. In short, AVPD and social phobia significantly restrict my life. In this situation, photography has become a valuable outlet for me to communicate and connect with people in my own unique way.

Over the years, I have learned that photography helps me confront situations that I used to avoid. While it doesn't always work perfectly, the camera allows me to navigate through the challenges of my AVPD and social phobia with courage and determination more often than before.

Through photography, I have also discovered entirely new ways to confront my fears. In 2015, I had the opportunity to showcase my work at a hobby artist exhibition to a larger audience. The challenge was that I had to present myself as well. Although it was anything but easy, I managed to stay at my booth every day for at least an hour, engaging with visitors and answering questions about my photos. This exhibition became one of the biggest challenges of my life, and I am proud to have overcome it.

Photography is not just my favorite hobby; it has evolved into a form of therapy for me. It allows me to embrace and overcome my fears as much as possible. Despite the continued limitations imposed by my AVPD and social phobia, my hobby has enabled me to make progress that I could never have imagined before.

I am grateful for the opportunities that photography offers me and for the support I have received on this journey. I hope that my images not only reflect my personal experiences but also inspire others to embrace their own challenges and pursue their passions.

Talking about my avoidant personality and social phobia was initially a significant challenge for me. However, over time, I have learned to be relatively open about it. One of the reasons is to avoid misunderstandings caused by my anxiety-driven behavior. Speaking openly about my fears also helps me to gain understanding and support from others. I want to share my experiences to show others that they are not alone and that it's okay to ask for help and talk about their own fears.

Thank you for visiting my website and taking the time to learn more about me and my photography. I look forward to sharing my images and stories with you.
